Hajiji says GRS will remain with Sabah PH for state election

PETALING JAYA: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah has reaffirmed its commitment to continue cooperating with Sabah Pakatan Harapan for the upcoming state election.

GRS chairman Hajiji Noor said he has conveyed this commitment to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who is also the PH chairman.

AdvertisementWhile GRS remains open to working with other parties, Hajiji said, collaboration with Sabah PH remains the top priority.

“As for the others, we will see. If their ideas are sound and reasonable, we will consider them, as our goal is the greater good. I am the chief minister, and what I want is unity,” Berita Harian quoted him as saying.

Read more Hajiji had previously expressed confidence the alliance between GRS and Sabah PH will continue to govern after the next state election, expected to be held by October next year.

PH joined the Sabah government following a failed coup attempt by Umno last year.

In announcing Sabah Progressive Party’s departure from Perikatan Nasional to remain in GRS yesterday, party president Yong Teck Lee urged the coalition’s supreme council to resolve any uncertainties regarding its collaboration with PH before the new year.

He also urged Gagasan Rakyat members to continue strengthening unity and preparations for the polls.

“October (2025) marks the end of this government’s term. This means we can dissolve the state assembly before or during that time,” he said.
