KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor called for urgent action to address the widespread bullying culture in Sabah’s schools, including religious institutions.
Speaking at the Du'at Convention at the Sabah International Convention Centre, he expressed disappointment over incidents that have shocked society and questioned how such behavior could occur in institutions symbolizing Islamic sanctity.
Hajiji highlighted the role of social media in spreading false propaganda, fake news, and slander, particularly as political tensions rise ahead of state elections.
He warned that sensationalism over issues such as economy, security, health, and religion, including bullying-related tragedies, threatens social stability.
He also pointed to the risks posed by rapid advances in technology and artificial intelligence, which can be misused to create false content and destabilize communities.
Hajiji stressed that guiding the younger generation is a collective responsibility (fardhu kifayah) for parents, educators, religious leaders, and community figures to protect and shape society with care and commitment.
