Kota Kinabalu: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor called on the Rotary Club of Kota Kinabalu Pearl (RCKK Pearl) and other similar organisations to continue helping the community and complement the State Government’s efforts to uplift the people’s welfare.
“This is in the State’s development agenda under the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) Roadmap aimed at driving comprehensive development of the State aligned with the national Shared Prosperity Vision 2030 (WKB2030),” he said at the RCKK Pearl fundraising dinner in conjunction with its seventh anniversary, here, Sunday night. His speech was read by Deputy Chief Minister cum Industrial Development Minister Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam.
The Chief Minister said he was impressed with the initiatives of the RCKK Pearl and hoped they will continue with the noble and exemplary work in giving back to the community.
Since RCKK Pearl’s inception, it has achieved various successes and there are still those in progress such as Project REAL (Rural Focus English For All), WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) and Hope in Sight (Cataract surgery targeted towards the rural B40 women), said Hajiji.
“The level of intellect, camaraderie and support you have shown to put plans into action truly exemplified the power of commitment, dedication and teamwork you have demonstrated to bring smiles and, most importantly, hope to many who had or will benefit from your excellent work.
“I wish to commend RCKK Pearl for your act of selflessness as reflected in your motto Service Above Self. To be able to serve opens the soul to growth and fulfilment but, more importantly, it gives you the opportunity to use your skills to benefit and make a difference in the community,” he said.
