Kota Kinabalu: Jalan Keningau-Kimanis, which has been closed since early March due to landslides at Km 14.3 and Km 11.2, is expected to reopen soon.

The Chief Minister’s Department, in a statement Thursday, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor visited the landslide sites to observe the clean-up efforts Thursday afternoon.

During the visit, Hajiji was briefed by Sabah Public Works Director Datuk Philemon Lajawai on the ongoing debris removal and repair works for the collapsed slopes in the area.

“At this time, the road clearance and slope repair works are nearly complete, and it is understood that the route will be reopened soon. However, this is subject to the weather conditions,” the statement read.

Hajiji conducted the visit en-route to Keningau to attend the second iftar event hosted by the Community Development Leader Unit of the Chief Minister’s Department in collaboration with Kim Teck Cheong Consolidation Berhad at the Keningau Sports Complex.
