Kota Kinabalu: Half a decade’s accumulation of silt and trash clogging the drains at a seafood attraction in the heart of the city were cleared in a joint effort involving Sabah Fish Marketing Sdn Bhd (Safma) and the Night Market Entrepreneur Association on Saturday.

City Hall workers lifted the drain covers to facilitate the work at the Todak Waterfront Hawker Centre in the 8am event due to the spot gaining increasing popularity, especially among foreign tourists, on social media.

Safma Chairman Mohammad Mohamarin who is also Banggi Assemblyman said the clean-up was long overdue.

“This needs to be an annual event to ensure the infrastructure of Todak and its hygiene standards are up to par not only for locals but also international tourists as it is quite popular,” he said.
