The Hamas militant group in the Gaza Strip has accused Israel of violating the terms of their ceasefire agreement through recent military operations in the Palestinian territory.

Hamas spokesman Hasem Qassem said on Saturday that Israeli strikes on residential buildings in Gaza and the resulting displacement of civilians contradicted the terms of the truce.

Israel and Hamas have frequently accused each other of breaching the ceasefire that has been in place since October 2025.

The Israeli military said on X that “several terrorists” had been killed in two separate incidents on Friday.

According to the military, the individuals had crossed the so-called Yellow Line and approached Israeli forces in a threatening manner. The line, marked by coloured concrete barriers and signs, serves as the de facto border of areas controlled by Israel in Gaza.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said earlier this month that Israel now militarily controls 60% of the Gaza Strip, up from 50% previously.
