Deputy Commissioner Gandharva Rathore has urged the heads and teachers of government schools in Hamirpur district to encourage girls aged 14 and 15 years to get the Human Papillomavirus vaccine (HPV) against cervical cancer. She added that those who missed out on the HPV vaccination campaign should get the shot, too. Teachers should work proactively to address and resolve any misconceptions regarding the vaccine among parents or students, Gandharva said. She also advised them to contact the Health Department for counselling.
The DC said that under the immunisation drive launched on March 29, 1,228 out of the targeted 2,967 girls in the age group had been vaccinated so far.
