PETALING JAYA: Bersatu secretary-general Hamzah Zainudin has confirmed his candidacy for the position of Bersatu deputy president at next month’s party elections.
Bernama reported that an official from Hamzah’s office submitted the nomination form on behalf of the Larut MP at the Bersatu headquarters here this morning.
The Bersatu deputy president’s post is currently held by Ahmad Faizal Azumu.
Under a plan which Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin mooted in July, he will stay on as the Bersatu president while Faizal will step down and make way for Hamzah – who has been Bersatu secretary-general since 2020 – to assume his post.
