“IN the Annual General Meeting (PAT) I stood up and said I am the number one supporter of the President (Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin), today I want to tell you, I am his number one opponent.”

This was the speech by former Bersatu Deputy President, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin at the Halatuju and Political Reset Briefing at the Universiti Malaya Alumni Association (PAUM) Club House today.

Hamzah also claimed that sacking him from the party was due to matters he did not know about.

"I do not know what happened in PAT. I want to inform everyone, I do not know why I was sacked.

"You have unleashed your hired hounds on me. I am your biggest enemy now. Today I was sacked for not controlling things I didn’t know about… What ghosts are in this party?” he asked.

Hamzah, who is also the Member of Parliament for Larut, also stressed that he would not appeal to Bersatu.

“I apologise to my friends for not returning to the party, I will not appeal after what was done to me,” he said, adding that he accepted the board's decision and would not challenge it.

"What we need now is a reset. We need to redirect for the sake of the people and cannot continue to be bootlickers," he said.

He stressed that the people wanted a leadership defined by competence and integrity, not lineage or titles.

"The people want a good leader who is reliable in leading the way for a better future," Hamzah said.

It was earlier reported that the disciplinary board's notices cited breaches of Clause 9.1.4 and Clause 22.5 of Bersatu's constitution, relating to compliance with the party's constitution and code of conduct.

Sacked members were told they may appeal to the party's appeals board within 14 days. – February 14, 2026
