DEPUTY President of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin stated on Thursday that he had not been invited to a preliminary pre-meeting held at Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s residence.

He stressed that without an official invitation, he was unable to attend the session planned ahead of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) Supreme Council meeting.

Speaking to reporters at the Dewan Rakyat, Hamzah said, “It’s not like that. The proper question is, was I invited to this meeting? I was not invited, so how could I attend?”

The remarks came after media reports indicated that the PN Supreme Council meeting scheduled for Thursday had been cancelled and replaced with an informal pre-meeting at Muhyiddin’s residence.

The pre-meeting was reportedly intended as a preliminary discussion among party leaders to determine the coalition’s direction before the official Supreme Council session.

The session, confirmed by PAS Deputy President Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, is set to formalise Muhyiddin’s resignation as PN Chairman and to appoint his successor.

Hamzah’s absence underscores the ongoing sensitivities and procedural protocols within the coalition ahead of the leadership transition.

His comments reflect the careful balance of party communications and the necessity of formal invitations in high-level political gatherings, particularly amid internal restructuring within PN. - January 29, 2026
