The investigation paper regarding the book Becoming Hannah: A Personal Journey, involving the Minister of Youth and Sports, Hannah Yeoh, has been referred to the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC). Kuala Lumpur's Police Chief, Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa, stated that the investigation paper was submitted on January 10 for further instructions.

"So far, we (the police) have received 182 police reports related to this issue," he said during a press conference after the Monthly Assembly at the Kuala Lumpur Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK) on January 24.

Earlier, the media reported that several non-governmental organizations (NGOs) had filed police reports calling for the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) to ban Yeoh's book, claiming it was dangerous and a threat to national security. The Segambut Member of Parliament also filed a police report regarding the spread of messages and videos on social media claiming that Yeoh had a hidden agenda of converting Muslims and transforming Malaysia into a Christian nation.

In response to the growing backlash, Yeoh has clarified that the reports and accusations against her were unfounded. She emphasized that the videos being circulated were malicious in nature and intended to damage her reputation, especially amid her ongoing defamation lawsuit against former Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan.

On December 23, the Kuala Lumpur High Court dismissed the defamation suit filed against Musa concerning statements he made at a forum at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) four years ago.

The lawsuit, filed on July 3, 2020, alleged that Musa made false statements about Yeoh at the forum Wacana Isu Semasa Perjanjian Damai Hat Yai 1989: PKM Menyerah Diri?, accusing her of writing Becoming Hannah: A Personal Journey with the intent to turn Malaysia into a Christian nation, undermine Islam, and prioritize her personal interests over the country’s welfare.

Despite the dismissal of the defamation suit, the controversy surrounding Yeoh's book has continued to generate public debate. While some defend her actions and assert that she has been unfairly targeted, others remain skeptical and voice concerns about the book’s potential implications for the country’s religious and cultural fabric. The investigation, as well as the growing number of police reports, suggests that this issue will remain in the public eye, with the AGC now tasked with reviewing the findings and determining whether any legal action is warranted.
