KUALA LUMPUR, July 10 — Harimau Malaya have climbed six spots to 125th in the latest Fifa world rankings, marking the national football team’s best position in nearly two decades.
The encouraging news was shared by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) through a post on its official social media platforms today.
Two recent strong performances drove this notable rise: a 1-1 draw against Cape Verde in a friendly match in May and a convincing 4-0 win over Vietnam in last month’s 2027 Asian Cup qualifying campaign.
Among Southeast Asian nations, Thailand currently leads the regional pack at 102nd in the world, followed by Vietnam at 113th and Indonesia at 118th.
At the global level, Argentina remains the top-ranked footballing nation, followed by Spain, France, and the United Kingdom.
