Vice President Kamala Harris and Former President Donald Trump are making their final pitches to voters on Monday, the last full day of campaigning before Election Day.

During a rally in Raleigh, North Carolina, Trump appeared to reference the infamous Access Hollywood tape which was published late in the 2016 campaign in which he said he could grab women by their genitals because of his fame.

Discussing Elon Musk’s and SpaceX’s rocket boosters, Trump said, “And those two big arms, you saw the arms, they grab that thing like you grab your beautiful baby ... Years ago, I would have said something else, but I’ve learned.”

He added: “I would have been a little bit more risque.”

The ex-commander-in-chief made similar comments over the weekend.

Trump took the stage in Reading, Pennsylvania shortly before 3.30pm ET on Monday.

The vice president will be joined by celebrities Lady Gaga, Oprah Winfrey, Ricky Martin, and The Roots in Philadelphia this evening as Katy Perry and Christina Aguilera support her in Pittsburgh and Las Vegas.

Trump is also concentrating on the Keystone State, holding a rally in Pittsburgh before closing in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Trump claims more than 200 million migrants to enter the US under Harris

Gustaf Kilander

Trump claimed that more than 200 million people would enter the US illegally during a Harris presidential term.

“She's incompetent. If she ever won, she would have open borders the following day after the election, and you wouldn't have 21 million people, which is a record in history, you would have 221 million people coming over the next four years,” the former president said. “You can forget about your country. You would have no chance.”

Trump boasts of ‘massive lead’ in historically tight race

20:33

Trump took the stage in Reading, Pennsylvania shortly before 3.30pm ET on Monday, boasting of a “massive lead” in a race considered to be historically close.

“You gotta show up. I don't want any money. I don't want anything. Just show up and bring your vote,” Trump told supporters. “And if you have somebody else that got a little lazy, bring that person to say ... ‘you gotta get off the damn couch.’”

“We're just one day away from what will be the most important political event in the history of our country. But you have to get out. We have to vote, show up and vote,” he added.

Results from several key states expected on Election night

20:30

Gustaf Kilander

A Harris campaign official has said that results may come in from North Carolina, Michigan, and Georgia as soon as by the end of election night, according to Reuters.

They expect results from Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Nevada to come in on Wednesday and further ahead.

“We may not know the results of this election for several days, but we are very focused on staying calm and confident throughout this period as the process goes through,” campaign Chair Jen O’Malley Dillon said.

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said during a briefing on Monday that they’re expecting 70 percent of votes reported by 8pm on election night, because of a state law allowing counties to start counting mail-in ballots earlier.

Elon Musk’s ‘random’ $1 million winners are pre-selected ‘spokespeople’ for his pro-Trump PAC, lawyer admits

20:20

Alex Woodward

The “winners” of a daily $1 million sweepstakes from Elon Musk and his Donald Trump-supporting political action committee were not “randomly” selected at all, according to an attorney for the group.

Swing-state voters who signed the PAC’s petition for a chance to be presented with a novelty-sized check were instead deliberately chosen to be paid “spokespeople” for the group, lawyer Chris Gober told a judge in Philadelphia on Monday.

Gober said that there is “no prize to be won” at all, and that recipients instead “must fulfill contractual obligations” on behalf of the PAC, he told Judge Angelo Foglietta in a Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas courtroom.

Donald Trump appeared to forget where he was during a rally in North Carolina over the weekend.

Trump was speaking to supporters in Kinston on Sunday when he started praising David McCormick as “one of the best [Republicans] of all right here.”

The only problem? McCormick is running for Senate — in Pennsylvania.

“We have great Republicans running and you have one of the best of all right here, David McCormick, you know that?” Trump said. “Where’s David, is he around some place? You know he just left, he’s a great guy.”

Trumpworld insiders and supporters ‘exasperated’ over recent rally remarks: ‘It’s like he doesn’t want to win’

19:40

James Liddell

Donald Trump’s allies and supporters are said to be “exasperated” by his recent rally remarks, leaving some questioning whether the former president is attempting to sabotage his own campaign at the 11th hour.

The former president has made a slew of controversial remarks during his final campaign blitz.

During a rally in Lititz, Pennsylvania, at the weekend, he claimed he “shouldn’t have left” the White House following his 2020 election loss, escalated rumors of election fraud, and joked that he wouldn’t “mind” if journalists were shot at his rallies.

19:00

Madeline Sherratt

An anti-abortion Texas megachurch pastor has endorsed Kamala Harris for president, as he slammed Donald Trump as a “race-baiting” adulterer.

William Dwight McKissic Sr, the founder of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Arlington, Texas, penned an op-ed for MSNBC on Sunday where he revealed that, despite being an evangelical who “hates abortion” and opposes same-sex marriage, he cannot support the “adulterous, childish, habitually lying and criminally convicted” former president.

Instead, he announced that he is backing “trustworthy” Harris in the 2024 race: “Republican Donald Trump doesn’t have Harris’ character, her competence or her capacity.”

Former president Bill Clinton has defended his Republican successor George W Bush over his endorsement decision shortly before Election Day.

In September, Bush’s office announced that he would not endorse GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump for a third consecutive election cycle, nor his Democratic rival Kamala Harris.

During a CNN interview on Sunday, Clinton – who has endorsed Harris and campaigned on her behalf since she stepped on the ticket in July – praised the 43rd president’s decision to remain silent in the 2024 race.

Former Homeland Security general counsel says it’s time to ‘close the book on Trump'

18:20

Alex Woodward

John Mitnick — former Homeland Security general counsel who was appointed and fired by Trump, and a former official at Raytheon and the Heritage Foundation — warned fellow conservatives that the former president is “reckless, angry, vengeful, and narcissistic, and he has no respect for the Constitution or the rule of law.”

“He is not a conservative; rather, he is a would-be autocrat and fascist motivated exclusively by his personal self-interest,” he wrote in a thread on X on Sunday. “If you think he cares about you or your family, I assure you that he does not. He cares only about himself.”

He urged support for Kamala Harris and said, “It’s time to close the book on Trump” and “rebuild” the Republican Party.

The ‘one thing’ Trump needs to win — according to Fox & Friends hosts

18:00

Gustaf Kilander

The “one thing” that former president Donald Trump needs to win the 2024 election is his former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, according to the hosts of Fox & Friends.

The former South Carolina governor ran against Trump in the Republican primary arguing that it was time for fresh leadership in the party, but has since endorsed him and spoke in support of him at the Republican National Convention.

On Monday morning, Fox & Friends host Brian Kilmeade noted the importance of winning over the voters who backed Haley in the primary, so that they don’t instead throw their support behind Vice President Kamala Harris.

Trump reflects on end of campaign

17:19

Gustaf Kilander

Reflecting on the end of the campaign, Trump said, “I won't be doing this anymore with North Carolina, and I won't be doing this anymore ... after today.”

“I'm just thinking, as I'm going through this, that this will be our final moment, but ... the more exciting moment is going to begin,” he added. “These moments of hundreds and hundreds of the most incredible rallies any country, no country has ever seen anything like that. But these moments that we've had together, these really were just to create what we hopefully will create tomorrow, which is we're going to make America great again.”

Trump responded on Monday, saying that he should have been fired and calling him a “disaster.”

The former president also said former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Mark Milley “should have been fired.”

“All those generals – Kelly should have been, Kelly was such a disaster. Some people are good, some people are not good, some people are stupid,” Trump said.

Trump jokes that Biden voted for him

16:41

Trump joked on Monday that Biden “probably” voted for him because of what the former president said is his dislike for Kamala Harris.

“He actually hates my guts, but he likes Trump more than he likes Kamala,” he said.

“He just got 14 million votes,” Trump said in reference to the Democratic primary.

Trump responded to a member of the audience who suggested that Biden voted for him.

“That's one of the ladies from North Carolina. She said he voted for me – probably did,” Trump said.

Trump repeats false FEMA claim

16:30

Trump once again made the false claim that FEMA funds were allocated to help undocumented migrants.

“FEMA did a horrible job. The administration – they're still not there. You know why? Because they've spent all their money on bringing in murderers and a lot of people,” Trump said on Monday in Raleigh, North Carolina, speaking about hurricanes striking Florida, North Carolina, and other states. “They spent all their money on bringing in illegal migrants. They've also taken a lot of your jobs, especially jobs from the Black population.”

Trump made similar comments over the weekend:

“Then you see those arms, like you grab your beautiful baby, your beautiful child … In the old days, I would have said like you grab your — girlfriend,” Trump said over the weekend.

“Now I don’t say that anymore. I say, like you grabbed your child. And those big arms came in and they grabbed that sucker and they held it in place like you grabbed your child. And I said, ‘That’s unbelievable’,” he added.

Trump claims to have had ‘great relationship’ with former president of Mexico as he announces 25% tariff

16:06

Trump claimed to have had a “great relationship” with the former president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

“He was a socialist, but you can’t have everything,” Trump told the audience in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Trump said he may impose a 25 percent tariff on Mexico if he returns to office.

“Now we have a new president in Mexico, I suppose, a very nice woman ... I haven't met her, and I'm going to inform her on day one or sooner, that if they don't stop this onslaught of criminals and drugs coming into our country, I'm going to immediately impose a 25 percent tariff on everything they send into the United States of America,” Trump said.

Donald Trump has taken the stage at his rally in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Cardi B has fired back at critics over her Kamala Harris rally speech in an expletive rant.

The rapper, who previously hit out at Elon Musk for calling her a puppet who “can’t even talk without being fed the words”, posted a video on TikTok to respond to the criticism she received.

She said: “I worked so hard, bro. I worked so hard on my speech and a lot of y’all talkin’ about like “Oh why are you reading it from your phone?’

“B****, I had to write that s*** down.”

Majority of Latino voters in Pennsylvania considered Puerto Rico joke racist

The fallout from Tony Hinchcliffe’s “floating island of garbage” crack at Madison Square Garden continues as a Univision/YouGov poll finds a majority of Latino voters in the crucial swing state of Pennsylvania, which is home to 500,000 or so people of Puerto Rican heritage, consider the gag “racist rather than humorous”.

A further 67 percent say the gag is indicative of racism within the Trump campaign, 45 percent said it makes them “much more likely” to vote Harris and another 48 percent believe it will make “people they know” more likely to vote for Harris.

Trump says RFK Jr’s plan to remove fluoride from water ‘sounds OK’ as he refuses to rule out banning vaccines

13:40

Joe Sommerlad

Donald Trump has said that Robert F Kennedy Jr’s plans to ban fluoride from drinking water “sounds OK to me” as he also refused to rule out banning some vaccines if he secures a second term in the White House.

The Republican presidential candidate recently announced that he would give RFK Jr free rein to do “anything he wants” and “go wild” over health, food and medicines during his potential second administration.

One such plan floated by RFK Jr is to remove fluoride, a mineral used to prevent tooth decay, from the nation’s drinking water supply – and Trump appears to be on board.

“Well, I haven’t talked to him about it yet, but it sounds OK to me,” the former president told NBC News’s Dasha Burns during a phone call on Sunday.

“You know, it’s possible.”

Some of the names Trump is dropping regarding his prospective next administration are... interesting.

Why?

“The GOP I loved would have never chosen as its nominee the adulterous, childish, habitually lying and criminally convicted Donald Trump.”

This observation might be even more damning: “There’s a scripture in the seventh chapter of Matthew that says a tree that doesn’t bear good fruit should be cut down and tossed into the fire. That’s how I think evangelicals should treat today’s Republican Party.”

OK here’s one final collection of Trump clips from yesterday, this time in Kinston, North Carolina, his first of the day and at which he appeared just as exhausted as he did at his later events.

The Republican’s attacks on Joe Biden, Kamala Harris and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell have been heard many times before and singularly failed to whip up the crowd.

The night before, he had been in Greensboro in the same state, where, under hellish red lighting, he welcomed a supporter’s offensive heckle about Harris.

NBC gave Donald Trump’s campaign two free commercial slots on Sunday following a backlash over Kamala Harris’s Saturday Night Live appearance, with Republicans arguing that the network had flouted the Federal Communications Commission’s “equal time” rules by allowing the Vice President to appear but not the former president.

Trump took to the airwaves to deliver a bruising 60-second, pre-recorded message, which was shown towards the end of both Sunday evening’s Nascar playoff race and the big NFL Sunday Night Football game.

He also had some other disturbing remarks to make about climate change, Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the Obamas, asylum seekers and the bizarre fantasy prospect of college wrestlers battling illegal immigrants.

New York Times Editorial Board attacks ‘unfit’ Trump on election eve

10:40

Joe Sommerlad

Without mentioning Kamala Harris by name, the newspaper’s editorial board comes out strongly against the Republican nominee with the following statement:

“You already know Donald Trump. He is unfit to lead. Watch him. Listen to those who know him best. He tried to subvert an election and remains a threat to democracy. He helped overturn Roe, with terrible consequences. Mr. Trump’s corruption and lawlessness go beyond elections: It’s his whole ethos. He lies without limit. If he’s re-elected, the G.O.P. won’t restrain him. Mr. Trump will use the government to go after opponents. He will pursue a cruel policy of mass deportations. He will wreak havoc on the poor, the middle class and employers. Another Trump term will damage the climate, shatter alliances and strengthen autocrats. Americans should demand better. Vote.”

Given that rival outlets like The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times and USA Today have controversially declined to offer an endorsement either way, this is strong stuff from the NYT.

Harris leading in four swing states in respected late poll

10:20

Joe Sommerlad

The Harris campaign is cheering the news that its candidate has taken a marginal lead in several key swing states in the final New York Times/Siena College poll, making gains in Nevada, North Carolina, Wisconsin and Georgia.

Harris leads Trump by 49 percent to 46 in Nevada, 48 to 46 in North Carolina, 49 to 47 in Wisconsin and 48 to 47 in Georgia, which means it all remains extremely tight down there.

Trump, meanwhile, is thought to be ahead by 49 to 45 in Arizona and, perhaps most agonisingly of all, the two candidates remain deadlocked in Pennsylvania and Michigan.

Here’s the very latest from Rachel Sharp.
