- The documents include details on the gunman, Salvador Ramos, revealing his decline from a promising student to one who struggled and eventually abandoned his education.
- Ramos, who shot 19 children and two teachers dead, was described as a “a remarkable little boy” in kindergarten, but by middle school had been suspended or written up multiple times.
- The files also contain a harrowing email sent by fourth-grade teacher Lynn Deming, who described being covered in blood after she was hit by shrapnel.
- “I tried to stay calm for my students,” she wrote. “I needed my students to hear that they were loved in case it was the last thing they ever heard.”
