Harry Maguire has suggested that missing the FA Cup final and Euro 2024 through injury was “probably the toughest moment of my career”.

The Manchester United defender, who has won 63 caps since making his senior England debut against Lithuania in 2017, was omitted from Gareth Southgate’s final England squad due to a calf injury.

He was also sidelined for the FA Cup final win against Manchester City in May.

“I felt like I got myself in a great position physically and mentally to go and perform at the highest level,” Maguire said, opening up on his recent injury struggles.

“To face the setback that I did... it was really tough.”
