In a major step to empower girls from economically weaker families and ensure their access to education, Antyodaya Foundation distributed bicycles to 250 girl students at Gharaunda and Nilokheri in Karnal district on Sunday.

Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Bhatia was the chief guest, while Kavindra Rana, Union Minister for Power, Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal’s representative for Karnal district; Brij Gupta, former BJP district officiating president; and Ayeshna Kalyan, daughter of Haryana Assembly Speaker Harvinder Kalyan, were guests of honour.

The bicycles were distributed among the girls from Gharaunda and Assandh Assembly segments during a function at Gharaunda, while beneficiaries from Karnal, Indri and Nilokheri areas received bicycles at an event held in Nilokheri.

The initiative, aimed at making access to education easier, brought a visible enthusiasm and confidence to the faces of the beneficiaries.

Last week, Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had distributed bicycles to girl students in Panipat, which falls under the Karnal Parliamentary constituency.

Addressing a gathering, MP Sanjay Bhatia said there was a time when jobs were either distributed through political influence or secured through monetary considerations. Corruption and favouritism had become deep-rooted in the system, he added. However, Union Minister and former CM Manohar Lal Khattar worked to establish transparency, accountability and ensured equal opportunities to all sections of society, Bhatia added.

He said the team of Antyodaya Foundation is working with dedication, commitment and a strong sense of social responsibility under the guidance of the Union Minister. The foundation’s mission is not merely to lend a helping hand but create opportunities for those standing last in the queue. Ensuring quality education, dignity and a brighter future for girls from underprivileged families remains the core objective of the campaign, he said, while appreciating the efforts of Ayeshna Kalyan and the foundation’s team in translating this vision into meaningful outcomes on the ground.
