Haryana State Commission for Protection of Child Rights chairperson Tripti Sheoran on Thursday conducted inspections at the Civil Hospital, Bal Upvan Ashram and Anganwadi centres in the city to review facilities being provided to children and women.

During the visit, Sheoran emphasised the need for strict adherence to government norms and welfare standards. She said all facilities and services meant for children and women should be provided efficiently and without any negligence. “There should be no compromise when it comes to the welfare, safety and development of children,” she added.

Sheoran first visited the Civil Hospital, where she interacted with doctors in the office of the Principal Medical Officer (PMO) and reviewed healthcare services. She later inspected the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, maternity ward and OPD block at the hospital, and interacted with admitted women patients.

Following the inspection, Sheoran expressed satisfaction with the quality of healthcare services available for children and directed hospital authorities to pay special attention to cleanliness and overall management.

Next, Sheoran visited the Creche Centre at the community hall in the Police Lines area. At the facility, she reviewed nutritional meals provided to children, preschool educational activities and a few other facilities. During the inspection, the issue of delayed ration supply was brought to Sheoran’s attention, prompting her to issue necessary instructions to the officials concerned for immediate corrective action.

With the intense summer heat in mind, she directed authorities to ensure adequate cooling arrangements, including the installation of coolers or air-conditioners, for the comfort of children.

Sheoran emphasised that government welfare schemes and facilities should effectively reach children at the grassroots level and said that ensuring holistic development of children remained a priority of the government.

Later in the day, Sheoran inspected Bal Upvan Ashram and reviewed the facilities being provided to children. Arrangements related to child care, accommodation, education and overall welfare at the centre were found to be satisfactory and well-managed.
