Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Monday flagged off 312 emergency response vehicles (ERVs) for the Haryana Police at Leisure Valley Park in Gurugram.

The fleet — comprising 310 motorcycles and two Honda Elevate SUVs — has been provided by Honda India Foundation under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative at an approximate cost of Rs 5 crore.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the initiative would play a significant role in further strengthening public safety across Haryana, and ensuring quicker assistance to citizens during emergencies.

He said the state government was continuously taking steps to modernise the police force, and make it more effective. The Chief Minister added that the new ERVs would enhance accessibility for the police, and enable citizens to receive assistance quicker during crises.

“A police system equipped with modern technology and adequate resources is essential for strengthening citizens’ sense of security, and confidence in law enforcement agencies. The state government remains committed to providing Haryana Police with the necessary infrastructure and technological support required for efficient policing,” Saini said.

Appreciating the performance of the Haryana Police, the Chief Minister said while the average police response time in the country stood at around 18 minutes, Haryana Police had successfully reduced its response time to just 7 minutes and 3 seconds.

He added that Gurugram had been allotted 60 motorcycles and one SUV, while Faridabad had received 40 motorcycles and an SUV.

The remaining 210 motorcycles have been distributed among other districts across the state. Appealing to citizens to follow traffic regulations, Saini said awareness and responsible behaviour towards road safety were key to building a safe society.

He added that the collaborative efforts of the government, administration, and private sector could help accelerate public welfare initiatives, and the project was a reflection of that collective approach.

Director General of Police Ajay Singhal said the addition of the new ERVs would further strengthen the emergency response capabilities of the Haryana Police.

He added that the new vehicles would be capable of reaching incident locations swiftly upon receiving information, and would make it easier to provide timely assistance to citizens in need.

Gurugram Police Commissioner Sibash Kabiraj said the modern vehicles would make policing more efficient and effective.

He added that the motorcycle-based ERVs would prove particularly useful in congested areas and narrow lanes, enabling police personnel to reach emergency situations quickly and provide prompt assistance to citizens.
