A joint operation against drugs was conducted by teams comprising CIA wing officials, dog squad members and local police personnel in notorious pockets and villages of Rewari district on Tuesday.

Premises under suspicion were searched intensively with the help of sniffer dogs and police investigators under the policy of zero tolerance against drugs.

A key feature of this operation was the inclusion of specially trained sniffer dogs to quickly detect any narcotics hidden underground and inside homes.

The police action created panic among drug smugglers and anti-social elements.

“The objective of the operation was to make the district drug-free. Those who are ruining the future of the youth by pushing them into the abyss of drugs will not be spared,” said Rewari Superintendent of Police (SP) Hemendra Kumar Meena.

The joint search and checking operation was conducted under the guidance of the district SP to check the prevalence of drug trafficking in the district.

The police teams, comprising members from the CIA (Kosli), the dog squad, and Kosli and Rewari (Sadar) police stations, raided locations at Bhakli, Bodia Kamalpur, Madhiya Khurd and Gokalgarh villages, as well as Bhogal Basti, Sahadat Nagar turn and Kosli Railway Station areas. During the operation, the teams, led by SHO (Kosli) Inspector Manoj Kumar, SHO (Sadar) Inspector Rajender Singh, Kosli CIA wing in-charge Sub-Inspector Subhash Chand, and dog squad members, thoroughly searched several suspicious houses, hideouts and other locations in the said areas early in the morning.

Meanwhile, the district police have appealed to residents to cooperate with the police administration to make the district crime and drug-free.

“If any citizen comes across any instance of sale of drugs, drug trafficking or any other suspicious or illegal activity, he/she should immediately inform the police by dialling 112 or the MANAS helpline number 1933,” the SP stated, adding that the name and identity of the informant(s) would be kept confidential.
