
Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Sirsa, under CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, organised a farmer awareness programme at Mallekan village on Wednesday as part of the Centre’s Khet Bachao Abhiyan.
The programme aimed at educating farmers about scientific farming methods, livestock management and government welfare schemes.
Addressing the gathering, animal science expert Dr Hardeep Kalkal highlighted the importance of balanced nutrition, disease prevention, timely vaccination and scientific management of livestock. He urged the farmers to ensure regular health check-ups and maintain proper hygiene to improve animal productivity.
Horticulture expert Dr Vinita Rajput spoke about modern cultivation techniques for fruits and vegetables. She also shared information on balanced nutrient management, integrated pest management and sustainable farming practices.
Agriculture Expert Dr Madan Lal explained the benefits of direct seeded rice (DSR) technology, stating that it helps save water and reduce labour costs. He also discussed scientific cultivation methods in cotton and measures to control pests and diseases effectively.
Veterinary surgeon Dr Ravi Kumar Ghotar told the farmers about the need for timely vaccination against foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) and haemorrhagic septicaemia (HS). He also briefed them on disease prevention and various schemes offered by the Animal Husbandry Department.
Agriculture Development Officer Dr Ramchandra provided information on government schemes and subsidies available to the farmers. He encouraged them to register their crops on the ‘Meri Fasal Mera Byora’ portal to avail themselves of benefits under various welfare programmes.
Village Sarpanch Sukhdev Singh, Suresh Kumar Goyal, Gaurav and a large number of farmers attended the event.
