Minister of Panchayat and Development Krishan Lal Panwar sustained minor injuries in a road accident near a toll plaza on NH-44 in Panipat on Friday while travelling from Ambala to Sonepat.
The SUV in which he was travelling suffered heavy damage to the front. He was immediately taken to the Civil Hospital, where senior officials, including MLA Pramod Vij, DC Virender Dahiya and SP Bhupender Singh, arrived to take stock of the situation.
According to MLA Pramod Vij, the incident occurred when an abrupt stop by a vehicle in front caused the minister’s SUV to collide with a vehicle in his convoy, deploying the airbags
Officials confirmed that he remained conscious and stable, with no head or facial injuries. He was briefly kept under observation and later discharged after medical tests confirmed his condition was stable.
SP Bhupender Singh stated that Panwar is safe and doing well, adding that the airbags helped reduce the severity of the impact.
He also said a case has been registered at the Sector 13/17 police station under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the driver whose sudden braking triggered the accident.
The vehicle involved has been identified as bearing a Delhi registration number, and further investigation is underway.
After being discharged, Panwar confirmed that he is fine. He said he was travelling to Sonepat, as he is in charge of the Sonepat MC elections. He had been returning from campaigning in wards 2, 13, and 14 in Ambala city.
The minister also expressed gratitude to BJP state president Mohan Badoli for visiting him at the hospital, and thanked Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Minister Anil Vij for checking on his well-being.
