Taking forward Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for energy conservation, environmental protection and the vision of a Viksit Bharat, the Haryana government has initiated concrete steps to transform the appeal into a mass movement.
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday undertook a bicycle ride to spread awareness about fuel conservation, environmental protection and healthy living.
The CM visited Chandigarh Sukhna Lake in the morning, where he interacted with people who had come for a morning walk and gave a call for ‘Swasth Bharat, Swasth Haryana’.
The CM said that in view of the prevailing global situation and developments in the Middle East, the Prime Minister has urged people to reduce unnecessary fuel consumption, adopt safe travel practices, make greater use of electric vehicles and contribute towards environmental protection through public participation.
The Haryana government has also issued a Standard Operating Procedure at the state level in response to the Prime Minister’s appeal. Under this, decisions have been taken to encourage virtual meetings, promote work-from-home options and prioritise energy conservation in government functioning.
Various awareness programmes and campaigns would also be undertaken to connect people with this initiative.
Referring to the Covid period, the Chief Minister said that when the Prime Minister appealed to the people for cooperation during the crisis, the entire nation responded collectively and India successfully overcame that difficult phase. Similarly, he said, if citizens come forward with a sense of responsibility towards energy conservation and environmental protection, the country will successfully overcome every challenge.
