Eid-Fitr sure is a day where Malaysians especially the Muslims look forward to celebrating.

After a month of arduous effort of fasting and finding spiritual closeness to the Almighty, Eid is a symbol of winning against our baser needs.

That being said, it seems the lesson doesn't truly stick to some of us, especially with extreme cases of popping the fireworks and firecrackers every single night, since before Ramadan even started.

Don't get me wrong, while the festive vibes sure are appreciated, the extreme level of playing with the firecrackers needs to be curbed especially when they keep playing after midnight.

We get it, the colours are beautiful and it sure is a sight to see that even our neighbouring countries, such as Singapore, look forward to the fireworks show across the border as it is illegal for them.

While it is entertaining to look from afar, it is extremely unpleasant to be abused by the loud sounds of fireworks, or worse the shockwave from the firecrackers, popping right on top of your roof.

Speaking from a person who lived in a majority malay neighbourhood, the situation has gone worse as it had become a literal warzone with some residents having firecrackers and fireworks battles.

While it is fine if they opted to use a wide area such as the football field to battle on their firework showdown, it is an extreme noise nuisance when they take in on the streets, just in front of their house.

I'm sure many of us agree, the fireworks and firecracker obsession in our country has gone too far and needs to be chilled as we deal with back to back celebrations.

Surely many of us agree that having a bit of consideration and some common sense, with perhaps a tighter firecrackers enforcement, we could achieve a better Eid celebrations.
