Hassan disappointed by ministers’ absence during Budget 2027 debate

PASIR Gudang MP Hassan Abdul Karim expressed disappointment in the Dewan Rakyat today over the absence of ministers as he prepared to speak in support of Budget 2027.

The PKR backbencher said he believed the budget contained several good measures, but questioned the lack of government representatives in the chamber to hear his views during the policy-stage debate on the Supply Bill 2027.

“I am a government backbencher, and I want to support this Budget.”

“There are many good things in it, but those most keen to hear what I have to say are my friends in the Opposition,” he said.

“But no one from the government is here.”

The policy-stage debate on Budget 2027 is scheduled to run until Oct 22, following its tabling by Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Oct 9.

Ministers are scheduled to deliver their winding-up speeches over four days starting next week. – October 21, 2026
