Tuaran: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor advised the public to place full confidence in authorities conducting the investigation into the death of Zara Qairina Mahathir.

He said the State Government sympathises with the situation and urged people not to engage in speculation or make assumptions.

“We must wait for the legal process to proceed properly and afterwards we will know the cause of the incident. Currently, I have noticed various assumptions that are incorrect.

The results will be announced once the investigation is complete,” he said at the Bajausama Cultural Festival 2025 held at the Sabah Bajausama Cultural Centre in Kampung Lok Batik, here, Sunday.

The event was also graced by Governor Tun Musa Aman, who officiated the ceremony with his wife, Toh Puan Faridah Tussin. The Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) had ordered authorities to conduct an exhumation of Zara Qairina’s remains from the Tanjung Ubi Islamic Cemetery in Kampung Mesapol, Sipitang, which was completed at 7.15pm on Saturday.

The body was subsequently transported by police from the cemetery to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for a post-mortem examination conducted on Sunday.

The Form One student from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama Tun Datu Mustapha in Limauan, Papar, was reportedly found unconscious near a drain at 4am on July 16, after allegedly falling from the third floor of a dormitory building.
