Kota Kinabalu: A 31-year-old man was jailed five years for having 166.59gm of cannabis.

Mohd Ridzuan Idjal pleaded guilty before Sessions Court Judge Elsie Primus to the charge against him.

AdvertisementHe was found having the drug at 10.40am on Dec 11, 2023 by the roadside in Kg Tunggul Tinggi, Sipitang.

The offence, under Section 6 of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and punishable under Section 39A(2) of the same Act, carries a jail term of between five years and life imprisonment, and whipping, on conviction.

However, the prosecution asked for an appropriate sentence to be imposed on Mohd Ridzuan.
