Haze: 28 areas record unhealthy air quality

TWENTY-eight areas nationwide recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 8am today, with Tasek Ipoh, Perak recording the highest reading at 181.

According to the Department of Environment’s (DOE) Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS), Seri Manjung, Perak recorded the second-highest reading at 178, followed by Johan Setia, Selangor at 161.

Sungai Petani, Kedah and Pegoh Ipoh, Perak each recorded an API reading of 159.

Other areas recording unhealthy readings included Cheras and Batu Muda in Kuala Lumpur, at 158 and 157 respectively, while Putrajaya and Nilai, Negeri Sembilan each recorded 158.

Minden and Taiping recorded readings of 157, while Seberang Jaya, Penang recorded 155.

Tanjung Malim, Perak and Shah Alam, Selangor each recorded 155, while Seberang Perai, Penang, Seremban, Negeri Sembilan and Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu each recorded 153. - September 17, 2026
