SARAWAK remained the country’s haze hotspot on Thursday morning, with three areas recording unhealthy air quality, while Cheras in Kuala Lumpur also entered the unhealthy range.
Data from the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) showed Samarahan registering the highest Air Pollutant Index (API) reading in the country at 164 as of 7.30am.
The Serian District Police Headquarters area recorded an API reading of 162, followed by Sri Aman at 155.
Cheras in Kuala Lumpur also recorded unhealthy air quality, with an API reading of 129.
A further 61 monitoring stations nationwide registered moderate readings, while only two recorded good air quality.
No stations recorded very unhealthy or hazardous API levels.
Meanwhile, API data for the Politeknik Kota Kinabalu monitoring station in Sabah was unavailable.
The API is updated hourly based on readings from 68 air quality monitoring stations across Malaysia.
