Schools in Lubok Antu and Kanowit districts close temporarily and switch to PdPR due to worsening haze conditions and high API reading
KUCHING: All primary and secondary schools under the Lubok Antu and Kanowit District Education Offices (PPDs) were temporarily closed today following the worsening haze conditions.
Sarawak State Education Department (JPN) said it made the decision made based on the Air Pollutant Index (API) readings recorded in the area at 9 am today.
“As such, the home-based teaching and learning (PdPR) session will be implemented,” it said in a statement today.
Sarawak JPN also said that for schools in these districts with API readings exceeding 200, school headmasters and principals could consider implementing the PdPR session to safeguard children’s health and safety.
“If the API readings show a downward trend (readings below 200), then they can take steps to prepare for the reopening of schools,” it added.
