Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah, the Crown Prince of Pahang, has publicly called for swift justice for a construction worker who was allegedly assaulted by a relative of the Pahang Royal Family and several others. The incident, which reportedly took place last month, left the victim, identified as 44-year-old Alias Awang, severely injured. This call for action came from Tengku Hassanal himself, who voiced his strong stance on the matter through an Instagram Story update on October 18, 2024.
In his statement, Tengku Hassanal emphasized the urgency of addressing the case, asserting that justice must not only be done but also be visibly upheld for all to see. “He is one of my people. Justice must be served now,” Tengku Hassanal wrote, signaling his deep personal concern for the well-being of the victim and the need for transparency and fairness in the investigation.
The Crown Prince’s message also touched on the broader challenges of seeking justice, noting that those who stand up for what is right often face resistance from those who perpetrate wrongdoing. “In the end, those who are on the side of truth will always prevail, while those who commit injustice will eventually fall,” Tengku Hassanal remarked, highlighting his firm belief in the power of truth and justice to triumph over corruption and violence.
This public call from the Crown Prince comes on the heels of a statement issued earlier by Istana Abdulaziz, the royal palace of Pahang, where Tengku Hassanal urged the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) to conduct a thorough, transparent, and impartial investigation into the incident. He stressed that no one should be above the law, regardless of their status, and called for justice to be delivered without any compromises.
The incident, as reported in the media, involves Alias Awang, a worker in road construction and maintenance, who claims to have been brutally attacked by a royal family member and several others. According to Alias, the group allegedly used sharp weapons and even firearms during the assault, leaving him seriously wounded. Despite the severity of the allegations, Alias has expressed frustration and disappointment over the lack of action from the authorities so far. He lamented that no substantial steps have been taken to address his case or hold the attackers accountable.
