
The headless body of a young boy was recovered from the Bhakra Canal near Karkala village on Tuesday.
According to the police, the victim’s legs were tied, and the body was first spotted by divers, who immediately informed the authorities.
“When the body was taken out of the canal, it was found to be headless, indicating the possibility of murder. We are probing the incident and trying to establish the identity of the victim,” a police official said.
The police have shifted the body to the mortuary, and a post-mortem examination will be conducted to ascertain the exact cause of death.
An investigation is under way.
