In an effort to protect residents of Sub-Division Phagwara from dengue fever, the Health Department has intensified its dengue prevention drive under the ongoing campaign “Har Shukkarvaar, Dengue Te Vaar”. Under the guidance of senior district health authorities, teams of health workers are carrying out extensive container surveys and inspections in vulnerable areas to check mosquito breeding.
The drive is being conducted under the directions of Civil Surgeon Kapurthala Dr Sanjeev Bhagat and the supervision of Senior Medical Officer Dr Simardeep Kaur. As part of the campaign, District Epidemiologist Dr Nandika Khullar led special inspection and awareness activities in hotspot areas including Sugar Mill Colony, Railway Colony and several other localities of Phagwara.
Dr Nandika Khullar personally inspected the anti-dengue measures in Railway Colony and Sugar Mill Colony and issued necessary instructions to the field staff. Speaking on the occasion, she said that public awareness and preventive measures are essential to curb the spread of dengue, which can prove to be a life-threatening disease if neglected. She appealed to residents not to allow water to stagnate in and around their homes or workplaces, as stagnant water becomes a breeding ground for dengue-carrying mosquitoes.
She further urged citizens to actively cooperate with the Health Department, stating that only with public participation can make Sub-Division Phagwara dengue-free. She added that the district health authorities are making every possible effort to prevent the spread of dengue, but community support remains equally important for the success of the campaign.
Dr Khullar also informed that residents can seek any dengue-related information or assistance through the Health Department helpline number 104.
