
To mark World Hypertension Day, the Health Department released an awareness poster highlighting the dangers of high blood pressure and the importance of a healthy lifestyle. Civil Surgeon Dr Satinderjit Singh Bajaj, while speaking on the occasion, said high blood pressure is a dangerous disease and can even prove fatal if not treated on time.
He said hypertension is mainly caused by unhealthy lifestyle habits such as stress, fast-paced routines, junk food consumption, obesity, lack of physical activity and overeating. He advised people to adopt a healthier lifestyle by eating nutritious food, doing yoga and regular exercise, and undergoing routine health check-ups to prevent the disease. He added that timely awareness and preventive care can help reduce the risk of serious complications linked to hypertension.
District Family Welfare Officer Dr Neelam Bhagat said the awareness poster contains scientific information regarding the causes, precautions and prevention of high blood pressure. She said the campaign aims to educate the public and encourage people to take better care of their health.
Among those present on the occasion were Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr Rajinderpal Kaur, District Immunisation Officer Dr Rashmi Vij, District Health Officer Dr Jaspal Singh, Senior Medical Officer Dr Preetvan, District MEIO Amardeep Singh and others.
