KUNAK: The Ministry of Health implemented health services for the elderly since 1996 (during the Seventh Malaysia Plan - RMK7).
Based on United Nations (UN) projections, Malaysia is expected to become an ageing country in 2030 when the population aged 60 and over reaches 15 per cent of the total population in the country.
Sabah Health Department Deputy Director (Public Health) Dr Asits Sanna said currently health services for the elderly are available in all health clinics and hospitals in the state.
