Kota Kinabalu: The government will upgrade facilities at the Ministry of Health Training Institute (ILKKM) in the State to make it a centre of excellence, said the Minister of Community Development and People’s Wellbeing Minister (KPMKR), Datuk James Bin Ratib.

“To ensure that ILKKM Sabah is fully equipped with the latest Teaching and Learning (PdP) equipment, the MOH Training Management Division will upgrade PdP equipment according to ILKKM’s needs.

Advertisement“In 2025, ILKKM Sabah (Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan and Tawau) will receive an allocation of RM199,626 for the purchase of PdP equipment.

“The welfare of ILKKM Sabah trainees is also being given attention by replacing worn-out mattresses and beds. 1,354 mattresses and 1,354 new beds have been received starting October 2024 at a cost of RM737,040,” he said.

Read more James, who is also the State Health Exco, said that ILKKM Kota Kinabalu will undergo a transformation phase as a Centre of Excellence (CoE) starting in 2025.

This strategic step, he said, is to boost ILKKM Kota Kinabalu as a producer of skilled health workers who are able to improve the quality of delivery of the country’s health system to international standards.

James, who is also the Sugut Assemblyman, said this when officiating the Closing Ceremony of the ILKKM Kota Kinabalu 2024 Team Strengthening and Corporate Culture Programme held at the ILKKM Kota Kinabalu Auditorium on Friday.

“Make the theme “One Team, One Goal, and Excellence Through Sports” as a guide in every step we take,” he said.

According to him, this program is very good for shaping the image of ILKKM members who are healthy, skilled and become role models for trainees.

“Through the sports activities carried out, we can build a cohesive team, regardless of position or background and move towards the same goal.

“In this increasingly competitive world, the strength of an organisation lies in the cooperation and cohesion of its team. When we are united, we can overcome various challenges more effectively.

“As the Minister of KPMKR and the Health Exco, ILKKM Kota Kinabalu will always be with ILKKM Kota Kinabalu and will give a high commitment to help improve facilities, PdP needs by instructors. In addition, the welfare of trainees will be given priority,” he explained.

Also present were the Head of Evaluation and Quality of ILKKM Kota Kinabalu, Nawi bin Bair, Deputy Academic Director, cum Head of Basic Medical Science Programme, Isahari Smile, Organising Chairman, Zainulah Jubkar, Chairman of the Recreation and Welfare Club of ILKKM Kota Kinabalu, Imus Ronald Goling, Senior Instructors and Unit Heads as well as members of ILKKM Kota Kinabalu.
