Healthy body mass index now required for promotion, says IGP

PETALING JAYA: Police officers must have a body mass index (BMI) of less than 28 to be considered for promotion, says Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain.

In a Berita Harian report, he said the BMI requirement was one of the criteria the police have added to ensure a stricter promotion process.

“It also enhances their ability to provide the best service to the nation,” he said during the police monthly assembly in Kuala Lumpur today.

“The policy to promote senior police officers has been improved through the implementation of online courses and competency assessments,” he said.

Meanwhile, Razarudin said 1,350 probationary constables are set to undertake diploma programmes in management, investigation, national security and intelligence.

Razarudin added that the police have established strategic partnerships with public universities to produce professional and credible police officers through relevant academic programmes.
