Heated Rivalry actor Dylan Walsh is in hot water after he casually let slip details about the upcoming season of the hit hockey show in a video on Cameo.
Walsh — who plays David Hollander, the father of Hudson William’s character Shane, on the breakout Crave series — recently paused his account on the celebrity video platform after a self-recorded video went viral for the wrong reasons.
He briefly posted a note on the platform saying, “Stepping away because a video went viral that got me in trouble,” according to Entertainment Weekly. His account also said that the actor, 62, was unable to make videos again until August 2027. The message and account update have both since been deleted.
The video in question, which Walsh recorded for a fan, showed the actor saying: “Getting ready to go back up to Canada and shoot some more episodes.”
“I think we’re doing 12 this time,” he added. (The Independent has reached out to Walsh and Cameo for comment.)
Although seemingly innocuous, Walsh’s slipup might have revealed key details about what to expect for the future of the Canadian hockey romance show, which is based on Rachel Reid’s bestselling Game Changers book series.
After season one (which premiered in November 2025) consisted of six episodes, creator Jacob Tierney told the Los Angeles Times that he does not plan to make more than six episodes per season because he prefers to keep the storytelling dense.
Because of Tierney’s previous statements, Heated Rivalry fans have now taken Walsh’s admission of 12 episodes as proof that seasons two and three — which have both been greenlit — might be filmed together, or that season two will be split into two installments.
Crave and HBO, the U.S. distributor for the show, did not return The Independent’s request for comment.
Walsh told Variety in a statement: “I was speaking off the cuff in a Cameo and should not have speculated about the production schedule or episode count.”
“I don’t have any official information to announce, and I’m sorry for creating confusion for the production and the fans,” he said. “My Cameo account is paused for now. I’m incredibly grateful for the enthusiasm surrounding Heated Rivalry and proud to be part of the series.”
The speculation over the highly anticipated second season of Heated Rivalry comes as Crave announced several new cast members Thursday who will join Williams, Connor Storrie, Justice Smith and Charlie Gillespie for the forthcoming installment.
Actors joining the new season include Emily Hampshire as Vanessa, Edvin Ryding as Luca Haas, Robert Naylor as Wyatt Hayes, Sabrina Jalees as Farah Jalali and Priyanka as Tarek.
Season two is set to premiere in spring 2027.
