FIVE districts in Selangor were hit by flash floods early this morning following relentless rainfall that began around 1am, according to the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM).
Selangor APM Director, Ghazali Abd Rahman, confirmed that the districts affected are Petaling, Klang, Sepang, Hulu Langat, and Gombak.
“In Petaling district, the areas impacted include Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru, Kampung Tengah, Kampung Baru Hicom, Kampung Seri Aman, Kampung Padang Jawa, and the motorcycle lane along the Federal Highway in Shah Alam,” he said.
In Klang, floodwaters rose in Taman Daya, Bukit Payung, and Meru, while in Sepang, Kampung Abu Bakar Baginda was among the areas affected.
“The same disaster was also reported in Laman Gahal, Batu 14, Hulu Langat, Kajang,” Ghazali added.

Authorities have since opened a temporary evacuation centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Binjai in Meru to house those displaced by the flooding.
Emergency response teams are on the ground monitoring the situation and assisting with evacuations where necessary, as weather conditions remain unstable across the region. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and follow official instructions as further rainfall is expected.
