KIULU: Over 2,000 road users were affected after a major landslip struck KM2.45 along Jalan Kiulu-Tamparuli near Kampung Kionsom Lama following heavy rainfall since yesterday evening.
Tuaran Public Works Department (PWD) district engineer Farini Awang said the road was closed at 11pm last night as the passageway had narrowed dangerously.
She said the temporary road diversion, which was still under repair, had to be closed for safety and to allow stabilisation work on the embankment.
Motorists are urged to follow safety signs and use alternative routes such as Jalan Stesen TV Lawamandau-Kiulu, Jalan Telipok-Kampung Logkou Lama, Jalan Telipok-Kampung Bungalio, and Jalan Kauluan-Kampung Bungalio.
Despite the closure, some small vehicles were still seen using the dangerous stretch on Wednesday morning, risking further collapse.
