
Traffic is moving slowly on several key highways nationwide this evening as a surge in vehicles marks the start of a holiday travel period
KUALA LUMPUR: Traffic is moving slowly on several major highways nationwide this evening following a significant increase in vehicle volume. The Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) reported congestion on multiple stretches of the North-South Expressway (PLUS) and other key routes.
On the north-bound PLUS E1, slow traffic extends from Jawi to Bandar Cassia, Permatang Pauh to Bertam, and Sungai Petani (South) to Gurun. Congestion also affects the stretch from Alor Setar (North) to Hutan Kampung Toll Plaza and Jitra (South) to Jitra Toll Plaza.
South-bound traffic is slow from Kepala Batas to Hutan Kampung Toll Plaza, Pendang to Gurun, and Sungai Petani (North) to Sungai Petani (South). Further south, delays are reported from Sungai Dua to Perai, Juru to Bukit Tambun, and Sungai Perak to Menora Tunnel.
Additional south-bound congestion stretches from Tapah to Slim River and from Sungai Buloh Hospital to Sungai Buloh.
On the north-bound PLUS E2, slow traffic is reported from Pasir Gudang to Kempas, Senai to Sedenak, and Yong Peng to Pagoh. Delays continue from Pedas Linggi to Seremban, Putra Mahkota to Kajang, and towards the city centre after the Sungai Besi Toll Plaza.
South-bound traffic on the E2 is slow from Sungai Besi Toll Plaza to Bangi, Nilai to Seremban R&R, and Port Dickson to Hentian Senawang. Congestion also affects the stretches from Tangkak to Bukit Gambir, Simpang Renggam to Kulai, and Kempas to Pasir Gudang.
The LLM stated that 34 Smart Lanes along PLUS have been activated throughout the day to manage the increased flow.
Meanwhile, slow traffic is reported on the west-bound Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway E8 from Bentong to Lentang and from Bukit Tinggi to the Genting Sempah Tunnel. On the North-South Expressway Central Link (ELITE) E6, traffic is slow from Bandar Serenia to KLIA, Putrajaya to Bandar Saujana Putra, USJ to Shah Alam, and from Shah Alam to Bandar Gamuda Cove.
