Heavy traffic was reported around Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and Sepang International Circuit (SIC) on Saturday (Oct. 3), as large crowds headed to Sepang for the F1 weekend.
The congestion began from the KLIA Toll Plaza, with traffic heading towards SIC, Mitsui Outlet Park and KLIA moving slowly.
A Threads user who shared videos of the traffic wrote that the situation was “very congested” and expressed concern for those rushing to catch their flights.

Some suggested taking the train instead
The post quickly gained attention, with several users sharing their own experiences.
Some advised travellers heading to KLIA to leave much earlier or take the KLIA Express instead.

However, others pointed out that the trains were also packed.
One user said they had to miss four trains because they were too crowded, but thankfully still managed to reach the airport before boarding time.
Another user shared photos of a packed train and said there was “no other way” for them to get to work.
Others said the heavy traffic was expected due to the F1 event and advised motorists to plan their journeys earlier.

Kosmo also reported that other social media users experienced similar congestion and warned those heading to the airport to consider alternative routes.
With both road and rail traffic seeing heavier crowds, those travelling to KLIA during the F1 weekend may want to leave extra time for their journey.
