Traffic congestion hits several key highways due to increased volume and accidents, with PLUS and East Coast routes among the most affected

KUALA LUMPUR: Traffic on major highways is congested this evening following increased volume and several accidents.

A spokesperson for the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) said congestion was reported on the North-South Expressway (PLUS) heading north from Slim River to Sungkai, Tapah to Gopeng up to Simpang Pulai.

Congestion was also reported in both directions from Ipoh Utara to Kuala Kangsar and from Bertam to Sungai Petani.

“Several reported accidents have also contributed to the congestion, such as at the Hutan Kampung Toll Plaza from the direction of Jitra and from Tanjung Malim to Lembah Beringin,” the spokesperson said when contacted.

For the East Coast direction, congestion is occurring from Bentong to Bukit Tinggi and from Genting Sempah to the Gombak Toll Plaza.

Southbound traffic is heavy from Bandar Ainsdale to Senawang and from Simpang Renggam to Sedenak.

Traffic is also congested at several locations heading towards the Klang Valley, such as from Bukit Gambir to Tangkak, Ayer Keroh to Simpang Ampat, and Pedas Linggi to Port Dickson.

Highway users are advised to plan their journeys according to the Travel Time Advisory (TTA) issued by concessionaires and to ensure they get enough rest before driving.

The public can obtain the latest traffic information via the LLM toll-free line at 1-800-88-7752 or by viewing traffic CCTV feeds on the agency’s official website.
