A youth, who worked as a helper at Muktsar Sadar police station, was found dead, hanging in a room on the second floor of the police station under mysterious circumstances on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Sunil Kumar, a resident of Ladhuka Mandi in Fazilka district.
According to the police, the body was discovered after staff members noticed a foul smell coming from the room and opened it for inspection.
DSP Bachan Singh said a preliminary investigation indicated that the death had occurred around two days ago.
“The family has stated that the deceased had a dispute with his wife and he was mostly living with his relatives. Further investigation is under way,” said the DSP.
