SANDAKAN: The cooperation of all parties in helping children with autism is important for their development.
Sandakan Duchess of Kent Hospital (HDOK) Director, Dr Fahmie Othman, said the role of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and parents helped substantially in the effort.
The creation of the Special Education Programme for Integration (PPKI) in public schools also helps the development of the children involved.
“Autism is a disease related to the spectrum and neurological disorders in children and due to their characteristics they communicate differently as opposed to what is considered norm,” he said.
