SANDAKAN: The Social Security Organisation’s (Socso) Return to Work (RTW) programme provides benefits and opportunities for Insured Persons to return to work despite having permanent disabilities.
One of the beneficiaries is Asrini Arinin, 44, an Insured Person who suffered serious injury resulting in the loss of her left arm due to an accident while working at a factory in May 2023.
AdvertisementShe receives a Monthly Permanent Disability Pension from Sosco, which provides financial support to ensure her livelihood after the injury.
However, despite receiving financial assistance, she does not solely rely on this support. Instead, she is determined to establish a small business selling food and beverages as an effort to become self-reliant and improve her quality of life.

The assistance was presented to her during the Handover Ceremony of Entrepreneurship Equipment at her home in Taman Merpati on Tuesday.

The Socso-Tabung Haji Cakna Prihatin Programme is a corporate social responsibility initiative aimed at helping Socso contributors involved in the RTW Programme.

Mariam said the programme provides opportunities for contributors to generate income by participating in entrepreneurship and opens business opportunities for those affected.
“Additionally, this programme provides a social protection platform for contributors, offering support for them to return to active employment and improve their standard of living after experiencing injury or illness.
“The support provided by Socso is not just financial assistance, but also includes equipment, training and empowerment that enables individuals to take steps toward better self-reliance and recovery.
“This reflects Socso’s principle of inclusivity and commitment to ensuring that every affected individual, regardless of their condition, receives fair and equal support,” she said when met by the media at the event.
