As the famous saying goes, everyone deserves second chances. But, does this apply to everyone and in every case?

As the results for this year’s Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations were recently released, Malaysians were surprised to discover that juveniles at the infamous Henry Gurney School did very well in their SPM exams too!

According to the school’s official Facebook account, 11 students from the Henry Gurney School in Telok Mas, Melaka, achieved excellent results where two students got 7As, five students got 5As, and four students got 4As out of a total of 50 students.

If you’ve never heard of the school, it was established in 1949 to punish male juveniles who have broken laws and rules, and has the mission of training and upskilling them in various fields so that they can be upright citizens.

Malaysians congratulated the boys on their success!

Meanwhile, Malaysians met the news well and praised the boys for doing well in their studies. Several users also wished and prayed that the boys get a second chance in life.

“Congratulations. Take the opportunity to improve your new lives,” commented a user.

Better than those who show off their bad results

On the other hand, Malaysians compared them to SPM students who boasted that they either failed all their papers or did not even attend their exams on TikTok.

“Congratulations, boys… on the other hand, we have TikTok kids who show off their straight ‘G’ SPM results,” commented a user.

Another user commented, “Even they are trying their best to score and change their future. Yet, some normal students are proud of getting all ‘Gs’.”
