Ahead of its June release, an extended trailer of the upcoming Brad Pitt-fronted F1 movie has been revealed, and it combines all the drama and adrenaline straight from the grid. From Lewis Hamilton’s production credit to Hans Zimmer’s heart-thumping original score, here’s everything to know about the F1 trailer, its star-studded cast, where to watch the movie, and more.
Armed with Brad Pitt in a racing suit, an enticing power struggle between two team drivers, a redemption arc, and Top Gun: Maverick‘s Joseph Kosinski as director — the F1 movie has all the makings of the biggest summer blockbuster. Filmed over the 2023 and 2024 Grand Prix seasons, fans of the sport will instantly recognise the Las Vegas, Abu Dhabi, Silverstone and Monza circuits that feature in the trailer. Not to mention, an amazing shot of the pre-race anthem where Pitt and his co-star Damson Idris stand alongside four-time world champion Max Verstappen.
Centred on the fictional APX team, the movie features the APX cars blended into real footage from the competitions. Its plot focuses on the return of a retired driver, Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt), to help redeem the struggling APXGP team alongside his wary, up-and-coming teammate Joshua “Noah” Pearce, played by Damson Idris.
Dramatic race grid crashes, anxiety-fuelled moments of Pitt’s Hayes as he builds his comeback, and a rousing background score round off the thrilling F1 trailer. Read on to discover the film’s cast, release and other details.
Release date, cast and where to watch the F1 movie
Following the big 2025 releases of A Minecraft Movie and Marvel’s Thunderbolts*, the F1 movie is expected to be another crowd-pulling spectacle. While fans of the motorsport are looking forward to its release, the movie has also created a buzz among other fandoms such as BLINKS, given that the film’s soundtrack includes BLACKPINK Rosé’s new single “Messy.”
Set to release in theatres globally on June 25, and in the US and Canada on June 27, the Apple Original movie will later have its streaming release on AppleTV+.
F1 cast
Starring Brad Pitt in the lead role of Sonny Hayes and Damson Idris as rookie driver Joshua “Noah” Pearce, the film will also have cameo appearances from motorsport titans like Max Verstappen, Lando Norris, Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc.
Bringing a Toto Wolff-esque energy to the film is Javier Bardem as team owner Ruben Cervantes, while Kerry Condon has been cast as a race engineer — a pleasant surprise, considering the dearth of female representation in the actual sport. Case in point: It was only in January 2025 that Haas’ Laura Mueller became the first female race engineer in F1’s history. The F1 film’s cast also includes Sarah Niles, Tobias Menzies, Kim Bodnia and Simone Ashley — with the latter’s role currently kept under wraps.
The movie is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, directed by Joseph Kosinski, and its screenplay is written by Ehren Kruger. Lewis Hamilton reportedly has a co-producer credit. Two-time Academy Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer is the man behind the film’s score.
F1: The Album and its tracklist
Besides the movie, fans are also excited for the release of F1: The Album on June 27.
