The new features allow for the quick verification of the ID cards’ authenticity

Additionally, the new ID cards will come with a QR code that allows citizens to verify their ID cards digitally.

Deputy Home Minister Shamsul Anuar Nasarah said the QR code is meant to reduce forgery and misuse of the ID cards, in line with modern security standards.

During the Dewan Rakyat session, he highlighted that this enhanced feature ensures the ID cards can be digitally verified as authentic.

He also said his ministry would review the request made by Willie Mongin (GPS-Puncak Borneo) to include Bumiputera status and religion on the new ID cards.
