The Dabwali CIA staff have dealt a major blow to a drug trafficking network by seizing a large consignment of heroin. The accused, identified as Gagandeep from the Mandi Dabwali area, was caught with 521 grams of heroin, estimated to be worth over Rs 1 crore.

DSP Yogesh Kataria said on May 6, 2026, a team led by Dabwali in-charge CIA staff Sub-Inspector Rajpal along with other officers, acted on a tip-off and apprehended Gagandeep near Gol Chowk, Mandi Dabwali. A rucksack carried by him was found to contain the heroin. The seized narcotics were taken into police custody and a case was registered against the accused at the Dabwali City police station under the NDPS.

A check of Gagandeep’s criminal record revealed that he had nine previous cases related to drug trafficking. Seven of these were registered at the Dabwali City police station, one at Rama Mandi police station in Bathinda district and another at Naiyawali police station in Bathinda district. The accused will be presented before the court today.
