Just this morning (October 28), Kuala Lumpur High Court ordered Syed Saddiq to defend himself on 4 charges, including breach of trust amounting to RM1 million.

The co-founder of MUDA said in order to defend himself, he will give a sworn statement in court in addition to calling defense witnesses.

“With all the efforts made, I hope my name will be cleared,” Saddiq told the media outside the High Court today.

Kosmo reported that Saddiq has been ordered to defend himself for 4 charges, namely,

  • Conspiracy
  • Breach of trust
  • Misappropriation of property
  • Money laundering

In his Twitter post earlier this morning, the head of MUDA clarified that prima facie does not mean he has been found guilty.

“The prosecution has submitted evidence to prove their case. So now, I have to defend myself in court to prove my case.”

He also assured that he is yet to be found guilty as his case is slated to continue in February 2023, which will be the time for him to tell his story.

Prima facie tak maksud dah dibuktikan bersalah.

Hanya peguam pendakwaan dapatkan bukti kes mereka.

Jadi sekarang, saya kena membela di mahkamah untuk buktikan kes saya pula.

Saya masih belum didapati bersalah.

Kes saya akan bersambung pada Februari.

Time to tell my story! pic.twitter.com/qWCxl6aTsv

As the next General Election is just a couple of weeks away, in terms of his fate in the election, Saddiq said he will leave the decision to the relevant parties if he is allowed to contest or otherwise.

Stay tuned for more updates!
